Fluorescent display tube elements for segment-matrix type display

The vacuum display panel has symbols represented by a number of segments formed on a substrate (1) of a suitable glass or ceramic material. A thin layer of insulation (2) is formed on the substrate and covers a printed pattern of conductor tracks (3) that make contact with graphite coatings (4). The graphite is formed using a thick film paste that acts as the anodes of the fluorescent display tubes which are shaped to be segments as e.g. a seven-segment number digit display or of a segmented bar display. Each segment has a fluorescent layer (5), boundary ribs (6) and gating electrodes (7) supplied via the base tracks to activate the display. The ribs are formed by a screen printing process.
