A filter cloth suspending apparatus for a filter press in which a filter cake is formed between filter cloth portions by pressing the sewage and waste water therebetween by a filter plate, and then discharged. An upper end portion of a filter cloth (12) is supported on an upper support bar (13), while a lower end portion thereof is recessed, suspension members (15) being connected to both corner portions (18, 20) thereof. This prevents the upper support bar and the lower end portion of the filter cloth from contacting each other, and the filter cloth from being broken. The sagging of the lower end portion of the filter cloth is also prevented.
