A container assembly (20) for transport and disposal of medical instruments is disclosed and claimed. The container assembly (20) preferably has a container body (30) and a lid (22) for use with multiple-sized container bodies. The lid (22) includes a self-closing biased flap (26) and a cradle member for insertion of shap medical instruments and other medical waste without contact by medical personnel during insertion into the container body (30).
