The fireproof safe (10), for the secure protection, storage and cooling of heat-generating electrical/electronic equipment (24), includes a robust enclosure (11) formed by the walls (16) and hinged door (18) to provide an interior space (12). An external cooling unit (40) provides a liquid coolant circulation (38,39) to a surface cooler (30) coincident with a horizontal sealing bead (32) in the safe door, and which divides the interior into two compartments. A sensor (42) controls the interior temperature, typically within the range 25 to 30 degrees C, and a dehumidifier to counteract internal precipitation is provided by a silica-gel compartment (46).
