A single lens reflex camera comprises a slidable mirror-slit unit located between a photographing lens (11) and a film (27) onto which object light passing through the photographing lens can be made incident. The mirror-slit unit has a pair of mirrors (32L, 32R) spaced apart by a slit (33). For viewing the object, the unit is moved to have one or other of the mirrors reflecting all object light to a finder system (35, 36, 37). For photographing the object, the unit slides to move the slit whereby object light passes therethrough and is scanned across the film. Thus, the film is exposed whilst the mirror surfaces adjacent the slit continues to reflect object light to the finder system thereby substantially maintaining an image of the object therein. The camera may be used in combination with a T.V. monitoring camera (38) in the finder system. <IMAGE>
