The current measuring appts. measures the output current (I) of an inverter (TR1,S1,D1) which includes a transformer (TR1). A measuring device (R) is disposed in the output circuit (W2,D,L). The primary winding (W3) of a measurement transformer (TR2) is switched to the measuring device (R1). The secondary winding (W4) of the measurement transformer (TR2) is switched to a clamp circuit (C2,S2). A drain circuit (R4,C3) is switched to the output of the clamp circuit. The drain circuit provides a control voltage (Um) proportional to the output current (I).
