The arrangement consists of a ring (21), with mounting (25), in which the operator places his thumb and a grip (22) which is mounted on the endoscope, at the side of the patient, for the remaining fingers of his hand. The medical equipment is operated by squeezing handle and thumb grip together. The ring, and therefore the size of the opening, can be changed while at the same time, the distance of the ring from the finger grip is changed. The thumb ring is mounted with its extension (25) to a section (27) of the instrument with a screw (26).
