Glass block wall production

Glass blocks (1) are joined where they face by a slab strip (7) bonded to both block faces. The length of the strip equals that of the blocks being joined (1a,1b), or again a strip (14) spanning several glass blocks. A metal strip (10) running over several blocks is laid along the top of these, being pref. perforated and enclosed in the bonding layer. The ends of the metal strip are bent down and here joined to the glass block wall at their abutment. The slab strips (7) between the blocks are pinned to the metal strip (11) and the strip (7,14) surfaces (8) and those of the blocks themselves are coated in binder, eg. quick-setting mortar. Strip (7) consists of extruded hard-foam polystyrene, cut up to strip (7,13) format and additionally glass-fibre-reinforced and binder-coated. The longitudinal edges (25) of the strips (7,14) should be glass-fibre-reinforced likewise.
