The acryl based coating compsn. comprises copolymer comprising the acryl based cpd. of formula CH2=CR1C(O)OR2 where R1 and R2 are eachly H or monovalent opt. substd. hydrocarbon gp., and vinyl cpd. containing glycidyl gp.. In the process, 5-20 wt.pts of the vinyl cpd. containing glycidyl gp. is used within 100 wt.pts of the copolymer component. The obtd. painting compsn. has very excellent weatherability, is useful for painting on plastic, glass, wood and metal at room temp. or with heat.
