The mechanism is for a plate-type hinge with rotary cylindrical portion, on which is a pin. It can comprise a torsion spring with a short arm bent into a semi-circular hook (2) engaging with the fixing point of one of the cylindrical portions of the hinge, and a long one bearing against the surface of which the other cylindrical hinge portion is fixed. The long arm can be arranged to bear against this surface via a distance-piece, thus pre-loading the spring.
