<p>Object: to provide a method of efficiently separating pentafluoroethane (HFC-125) from a mixture thereof with chloropentafluoroethane (CFC-115). Constitution: a process for forming HFC-125 in a high concentration by the extractive distillation of a mixture of HFC-125 with CFC-115, which comprises using methanol, ethanol, butanol, propyl alcohol, pentafluoropropanol, tetrafluoropropanol or acetone as the extractant to obtain CFC-115 as the distillate and a mixture of HFC-125 with the extractant as the bottom oil, distilling the mixture to separate HFC-125 from the extractant, and recycling the separated extractant for use in the extractive distillation.</p> |
