<p>An airborne video identification system (10) acquires video images of objects such as seagoing vessels (12), digitizes (32, 100), stores (56, 100), and processes the images with a computer (18) under interactive operator associated textual data that are stored in a database. In the case of a seagoing vessel, the computer performs length, beam, and mast-height calculations (114) for use as a correlation pre-filter. Fuzzy logic (120) is applied to the images and correlation searches (122) are made in the database. Candidate objects found in the database are displayed (124) so a final unique identification decision (128) may be made by an operator. The database is a subset of a master database that is centrally maintained and updated. The subset database, which is selectively reloaded (144) onto the master database, is loaded into a removable disk pack (20).</p> |
