<p>The present invention comprises a novel apparatus for the cleaning of an ostomy bag (10) being worn by an ostomy patient (P). The cleaning apparatus of the invention is configured in three embodiments capable of fixed installation, portable use and bedside use, respectively. The apparatus of the fixed and portable embodiments provides a support for a patient (P) at a sufficient height above a toilet bowl (20) in the form of a platform (30) having support bars (32) with security stops (36) and a chute (34) removably hung from said platform (30) to discharge excreta into the bowl. The fixed embodiment employs a hose (50) for attachment to house water supply (24) and a nozzle (54) adapted to clean within the ostomy bag (10). The portable embodiment employs a reservoir (70) which supplies pressurized water either by elevation or by use of a portable pump. The convalescent embodiment is adapted to be used at the bedside and has a fluid reservoir/portable pump (82/84), hose (94) and a collecting tank (80), such as a bedpan mounted to receive the excreta being cleaned from the ostomy bag.</p> |
