Laminate coating for reinforced concrete or brickwork

Strengthening a component of steel-reinforced concrete or brickwork, by applying a laminate coating onto at least one component surface, is carried out by: (a) applying a mineral matrix in the form of a cement mortar layer onto the surface; (b) pressing a textile mesh reinforcement into the upset matrix such that the mortar penetrates the meshes of the reinforcement, the textile consisting of glass, carbon and/or aramid fibres and having an Young's modulus of more than 20 GPa, an elongation to fracture of more than 0.4% and a wt. per unit area of more than 75 g/m<2>; (c) repeating step (a); (d) repeating steps (b) and (c) until the coating produces the desired strengthening; and (e) applying a cover layer.
