Method for cleaning metal chips, particles etc. contaminated with coolant and similar liquids comprises: (i) passing electric current through the chips, particles etc.; and (ii) controlling the temp. of coolant between evaporation and cracking temp. range. Also claimed is an appts. for carrying out above method including a container (20) with at least one movable electrode (12) and at least one counter-electrode (16) connected to a voltage or current source (22, 24).
