The catalyst composition for liquid-phase catalytic oxidation, consists of 40-50wt% Fe(NO3)3, 35-45wt% Na2EDTA, 8-14wt% Na2(NO3)3, and 1-4wt% AgNO3. The concentration of the catalyst composition is 500-2000ppm and the pH is controlled at 5-8 with Na2CO3. Additionally KMnO4 is added to the composition to decompose aromatic compounds such as phenol, benzene and toluene, the addition amount of KMnO4 being 5-15wt% with respect to the total amount of Fe(NO3)3, EDTA and Na2CO3.
