Top entry ball valve for pipelines

The valve consists of a housing in the form of a cylindrical body (11). The housing has an opening (18) at the top, the centreline of which lies at right angles to the centreline of the cylindrical body. The movable valve body (12) consists of a sphere, with a central throughflow bore, on which flat faces (19,20) have been machined to reduce its overall dimension in such a way, that the valve body can be inserted in the housing through the top opening. After it has been inserted, the valve body is twisted round so that its spherical endfaces engage with O-rings (14) which have been mounted in recesses in the housing.
