The unit has at least two pairs of picks (22), on outer and inner packing tools (10-13), for digging into railway track ballast, and which are mounted on a height adjustable support (14,15). The tool pairs are mounted behind one another in the longitudinal direction of the machine, and have lateral placement drives (18,25) with eccentric shafts (17,26). The outer packing tool (13) is connected to a separate, second eccentric shaft (17), via a lateral placement drive (18). It is mounted on a separate, second tool support (15), which is moved on a vertical guide (19), by a separate height adjusting drive (20). The second shaft may be arranged on that side of the second support, which is turned away from the first support (14). |
