TILTING PAD JOURNAL BEARING

A tilting pad journal bearing (12) has each bearing pad (151) etc. supported for rocking relative to the housing (13), and prevented from being dragged about the circumference of a rotating shaft (10), by a hemispherically mounted platform body (23) on which the bearing pad sits. A radially extending spigot (40) extends from the platform body and locates in an aperture (42) of the bearing pad to prevent its circumferential displacement. To retain the platform body in its recess, the spigot (40) takes the form of a restraint member extending through the pivot body and with clearance fit through the recess and housing, permitting the platform body to pivot to the extent necessary for bearing operation.
