A process for carburizing ceramic sliding material is disclosed. Ceramics (Al2O3, ZrO2, oxide series) are dipped into an HF solution so as to surface-treat them down to 0.01-100 mu m. The ceramic materials thus surface-treated are put into a quartz tube (2), and then, are transferred to a carburizing furnace (5). Then silicon and benzine are injected, and then, they are heated and cooled. Then resin treatment is carried out, and washed and dried, thereby obtaining a carburized sliding material in which carbon is impregnated down to 0.01-100 mu m. Thus the carburizing is carried out in a simple manner, and the sliding material such as Al2O3 and the like are made to have improved friction coefficient, and other improved properties. |
