PURPOSE:To directly and efficiently carry out the transfer of electrons between an enzyme and an electron transfer material, by immobilizing the enzyme in an electrically conductive high polymer acting as the electron transfer material and make it possible to control the enzymic reaction, by controlling potential of the electrically conductive high polymer from the outside. CONSTITUTION:An oxidation reduction enzyme is immobilized in at least one polymer of pyrrole and a pyrrole derivative which is an electrically conductive high polymer. A flavin based enzyme is preferred for the oxidation reduction enzyme. For example, 30mg/ml glucose oxidase (GOD) and 0.1mol pyrrole are dissolved in 1mol potassium chloride and a platinum wire is dipped in the solution. +1V voltage is applied to the platinum wire using silver/silver chloride as a reference electrode to afford the aimed electrically conductive GOD membrane by electrochemical polymerization at the constant voltage. Polypyrrole formed on the surface of the platinum wire had the chemical structure expressed by the formula and seem to incorporate the GOD present in the polymerization process, polymerize and form the aimed polypyrrole film containing entrapped and immobilized GOD. |
