Adjustable packing e.g. for valve stems

The arrangement consists of a packing bush (4) which is mounted in the extension (1) of the valve housing which supports the valve spindle (2). The packing bush is threaded on its outside diameter and is screwed into the threaded bore (5) of the extension (1). The packing bush has faces (8) on its circumference with which a key can engage to rotate the bush. The key is inserted through openings (7) in the extension. The faces (8) on the packing bush can be formed by slots, teeth, blind holes or through holes in the bush. A ring can be placed under the bush to protect the packing when the bush is screwed down on it.
