The garment has at least one protector (1) having a fastener (3) so that when the garment is put on, the protector can be brought from its loose position into a fixed position relative to the body. The fastener or devices for adjusting the fastener can be mounted on the garment where they can be operated by the wearer. The fastener can be a strap passing through protector and garment or cable pulley through which the protector and holder can be tensioned against the body.
