An induction heated cooking range includes an induction heating coil (7,12) with a plate positioned over it, and is designed for use as a roasting, griddle or crepe plate without resorting to a cooking vessel. The plate (6,10) made of an iron-containing material and suitable for preparing roast, griddle or crepe material placed directly on to it.
