PURPOSE:To obtain a lubricating oil composition for internal combustion engines which has excellent high-temp. detergency and a low ash content, neither causes particulate trapping nor produces an adverse influence on an exhaust gas purifier, specifically on an oxidation catalyst, etc., and with which a future emission control can be sufficiently coped with. CONSTITUTION:This composition comprises a lubricating oil base, at least 5wt.% ash-free boron-compound dispersant, and 0.05-0.15wt.% in terms of phosphorus) zinc dithiophosphate and optionally contains 0.01-2wt.% ash-free antioxidant, each amount being based on the whole composition. It has a boron content of 0.1wt.% or higher, a ratio of the boron content to the phosphorus content of 0.8 or higher, and a content of sulfated ash of 1.0wt.% or lower. |
