PURPOSE: To provide a method and a device which can efficiently process ceramic material, by combining a conventional heating means and a microwave heating means. CONSTITUTION: This device comprises a kiln 10 which has a heating chamber 14 separated by a perforated wall 22 from a secondary chamber 24, and the secondary chamber 24 houses a conventional heating means 26. The method is to raise the temperature of material to a desired temperature by applying conventional heat or radiative heat, and apply microwave radiation to keep the material at a desired temperature for a desired period. As a result, the method can process ceramic material more effectively because the ceramic material is heated until microwave coupling increases greatly by conventional heating means. Since the method elevates the ambient temperature of the work space in the heating stage of the conventional method, the temperature gradient between the interior and the surface of the ceramic material in the heating stage by microwaves drops, and a high-quality product can be obtained. |
