PURPOSE:To provide an information display device with which changing of a scroll speed according to the number of characters of sentence information is possible and rapid displaying and announcing are possible without being affected by the number of characters and which has an excellent information display capacity and a display method for which the device is used. CONSTITUTION:A display character number counting part 22 forms character number data 22a by counting the number of characters of the sentence information 20a remotely inputted from a remote input means 11 or the sentence information 20a inputted from a display sentence input section 21. A scroll speed calculating section 23 calculates the scroll display speed data 23a of the sentence information 20a in accordance with the character number data 22a. A display control section 24 forms the scroll display control data 24a of the sentence information 20a in accordance with the scroll display speed data 23a. A display section 25 makes scroll display and announcement of the sentence information 20a in accordance with the scroll display control data 24a.
