<p>PURPOSE:To allow an electrophotographic carrier to hold an electrostatic charge controlling agent in the surface by a simple operation by synthesizing electrostatic charge controlling fine resin particles by emulsion polymn., suspension polymn. or dispersion polymn. and bringing the resin particles and a monomer for a binding resin into suspension polymn. CONSTITUTION:Electrostatic charge controlling fine resin particles are synthesized by bringing a monomer for an electrostatic charge controlling resin and a crosslinking agent into emulsion polymn., suspension polymn. or dispersion polymn. The resin particles and a monomer for a binding resin are brought into suspension polymn. to obtain the objective electrophotographic carrier. A monomer having an electron donative group, e.g. diethylaminoethyl methacrylate or dimethylaminoethyl acrylate is used as the monomer for an electrostatic charge controlling resin in the case where the resin is used as a positively charging resin and a monomer having an electron withdrawing group, e.g. an unsatd. dibasic acid such as acrylic acid, methacrylic acid or other unsatd. carboxylic acid or an unsatd. dibasic acid anhydride such as maleic anhydride is used in the case where the resin is used as a negatively charging resin.</p> |
