COOLING TOWER PROVIDED WITH WHITE SMOKE-PREVENTING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To provide a cooling tower which is provided with a means to prevent white smoke by removing water drops contained in the white smoke effectively. CONSTITUTION:A flow of air is produced along a specified path 43 with a blower 11. A filling material 5 is arranged within the path and supplied with warm water so that mutual contact is caused between the air passing and water to cool the water. The water after passing through the filling material is recovered to be used for various cooling purposes. An outside air intake port 37 is provided at a downstream point from the filling material and the outside air taken in is mixed with saturated air containing steam to a saturation level so that the saturated air is cooled to generate water drops. A water drop remover is provided at a farther downstream point of the outside air intake port and provided with electrodes as opposed to each other in opposite polarity so that the electrodes can be charged to a potential difference enough to cause a corona discharging. Thus, the water drops are charged by the corona discharging to be removed being attracted to one electrode.
