PURPOSE:To obtain such a display device that liquid crystal molecules can be moved into different states when voltage is applied and the angle of visual field can be enlarged by forming a voltage controlling film having a region with different dielectric const. on a conductive film. CONSTITUTION:Displaying is performed by applying voltage between a conductive film 13 and another conductive film on the opposite side of a liquid crystal 17 to the conductive film 13 so as to move liquid crystal molecules of the liquid crystal 17. In this method, a region 14a, 14b having different dielectric const. is formed in an insulating film 14 so that even when voltage is applied, effective voltage applied on the liquid crystal molecules differs according to regions. Namely, since the dielectric const. in the region 14a, 14b, is higher than other region, relatively larger voltage is applied on the liquid crystal molecules in the region 14a, 14b compared with the rest of molecules. Therefore, compared with the tilt angle A of liquid crystal molecules in the region 14a, 14b, tilt angle B of liquid crystal molecules in other region is made smaller. Thus, the angle of visual field is enlarged in the liquid crystal display device. |
