PRODUCTION OF FOAM MOLDED MEMBER HAVING LAYERS OF DIFFERENT DENSITIES

PURPOSE: To obtain a molded member having different mechanical endurance layers by charging foamable particles in a mold tool having a movable mold wall to introduce steam into the mold tool to fuse these particles and charging foamable particles different in density into the space formed by moving the movable mold wall to introduce steam into the space to fuse those particles and cooling the fused particles. CONSTITUTION: Polyolefin foamable particles A are charged in a mold space contracted by a movable mold wall 2 by a filling injector 4 and steam is applied to a mold tool 2 within a short time to expand the foamable particles A to mutually fuse them and a formed molded object is subsequently cooled. Next, the movable mold wall 2 is allowed to retreat by a spindle to expand the mold space. In this case, the molding material comprising the foamable particles A is also allowed to retreat. Next, foamable particles B having apparent density different from that of the foamable particles A are charged in this mold space by the filling injector 4 and steam is applied to the mold tool 2 to expand the foamable particles B and the already formed molding material is simultaneously fused to the second molded material having different density. The formed molded member is finally cooled to be taken out of the mold tool 2.
