PURPOSE:To provide a catalyst for production of acrylic acid by gaseous phase contact oxidation of acrolein or acrolein-contg. gas, and to provide the production method of acrylic acid using this catalyst. CONSTITUTION:This catalyst is used to produce acrylic acid by oxidation of acrolein or acrolein-contg. gas in a gas phase with molecular oxygen or molecular oxygen-contg. gas. The catalyst for production of acrylic acid contains multiple oxides containing Mo and V as the essential component for the production of acrylic acid by gaseous phase contact oxidation of acrolein and contains a solid acid having <=-11.93 of acidity.
