<p>PURPOSE:To provide a liquid crystal display having favorable switching property. CONSTITUTION:A gate electrode 15 is made on the transparent board of an array board 12, and above this gate electrode 25 is a semiconductor layer 28 made through a gate insulating film. Above this semiconductor layer 28 a drain electrode 31 and a source electrode 32 made face each other to constitute a film transistor 22. Above an array board 12 a counter board 14 is arranged, and between these array board 12 and the counter board 14, liquid crystal composition is charged. A first projection 41 is made, which covers the transparent board, projecting from the head of the gate electrode 15 to the side of the drain electrode 31. A second projection 42 is made, which covers the transparent board, projecting from the base side of the gate electrode 25 to the side of the source electrode 32. The second projection 42 is made smaller than the first projection 41. Accordingly, the light of back light becomes hard to enter a channel region 35, and a leak current can be lessened. The length of the channel can be shortened. The increase of the parasitic capacitance can be suppressed.</p> |
