<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a housing to capture impurities from gas and absorb heat by furnishing a housing means a hard and porous wall to filtrate and cool gas and a gas emitting means to flow gas into an air bag through the wall. SOLUTION: When this pyrotechnic inflator is activated by an electric signal, it quickly ignites materials in a core 18 and a jacket 24, burns them from a cap 16 to a wall 14 on an end terminal of a hard and porous housing 12, ignites a wafer 22 for gas emission and speedily emits gas to inflate an air bag. The gas flows toward outside in a countless number of pores furnished on the porous wall of the housing 12 and a meandering passage. Additionally, the housing 12 functions as a gas filter to capture large particulates and foreign matters from high temperature gas quickly flowing out to inflate the air bag and provides an excellent cooling characteristic to speedily absorb heat from high temperature gas flowing through.</p> |
