POLYSTYRENE FILM AND CAPACITOR MADE THEREOF

PURPOSE:To obtain a polystyrene film desirable as a dielectric film for a capacitor by using a specified polystyrene film having a specified ratio of the number of the ultrasuperficial carbon atoms to that of the ultrasuperficial oxygen atoms. CONSTITUTION:This film is one which is made of a syndiotactic styrene polymer and either of which surfaces has a ratio of the number of the ultrasuperficial carbon atoms to that of the ultrasuperficial oxygen atoms of 10% or above when determined by the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. A polystyrene film prepared by forming a surface layer comprising a resin composition (e.g. polyethylene or polypropylene) on at least either surface of a film of a syndiotactic styrene polymer is desirable. A polystyrene film prepared by surface-treating at least either surface of a film of a syndiotactic styrene polymer by the oxidation method is also desirable.
