PURPOSE: To obtain a fluoride-releasing dental primer composition, comprising a polymerizable acrylic compound, a light activated catalyst and an organic amine hydrofluoride and capable of leaching the organic amine hydrofluoride from the polymer, chelating with dentin and releasing a fluoride. CONSTITUTION: This dental primer composition comprises a polymerizable acrylic compound (especially preferably triethylene glycol dimethacrylate), a light activated catalyst (especially preferably camphorquinone) and an organic amine hydrofluoride (especially preferably cetylamine hydrofluoride). The composition is capable of forming a polymeric material and the organic amine hydrofluoride is leached from the polymeric material to chelate with dentin. Thereby, a fluouide is liberated. A volatile solvent in an amount of at least 50 wt.% based on the composition is preferably further added thereto. The composition can be polymerized on the dentin to coat the dentin with a polymer having at least 9 MPa adhesive strength.
