Class 38(5) In a circuit-breaker such as that of Specification 690,530, having a hollow cylindrical casing 1 containing a bimetallic element (not shown) mounted for movement with respect to a relatively fixed abutment from which it frees itself to release the movable contacts, the casing is formed with inwardly-projecting wall portions 36 to shield the fixed contact-carrying conductors 34 from the direct effects of the arcs drawn between the circuitbreaker contacts when they are separated under overload conditions. The bimetallic element is also protected from the arcs by plates 38 which overlie the element.</p> |
