The housing comprises a pair of metallic mounting plates (1, 4) which are in use positioned one adjoining each face of a panel (3), e.g. glass in which an extractor fan (2) is mounted. An enclosure (5) is detachably secured to one of the mounting plates (4) and is dimensioned to receive and contain the motor of the extractor fan. The rear wall of the enclosure (5) is defined by a grille (6) coated with or including an intumescent material which expands to close off the opening of the grille (6) in the event of a fire. The boundaries of the openings of the mounting plates (1, 4) which adjoin the panel faces are coated with intumescent material. <IMAGE> |
