<p>PURPOSE: To prevent erroneous function due to temperature rise of a microcontroller. CONSTITUTION: The protector for computer system comprises a cooling fan 14, a temperature sensor 10 for detecting the internal temperature of a computer system, a fan drive section 12 for controlling the r.p.m. of the cooling fan 14 based on the output voltage from the temperature sensor 10, a voltage regulator generating a specified voltage, a comparator 22 for comparing the output voltage from the temperature sensor with the output voltage from the voltage regulator and outputting a constant voltage when the internal temperature of the computer system is lower than a specified level otherwise outputting a voltage proportional to the internal temperature based on the comparison results, a voltage controlled oscillator 24 outputting a frequency dependent on the output voltage from the comparator, and a clock generator 26 outputting a clock rate varied by the output frequency from the voltage controlled oscillator.</p> |
