ATM CALL RECEPTION CONTROL METHOD

PURPOSE:To calculate an upper limit of a cell loss rate at a high speed with a constant and less calculation amount with sufficiently high accuracy for the use of ATM call reception control. CONSTITUTION:A cell loss rate after multiplexing on a virtual path set corresponding to a call is estimated by using a traffic parameter of a peak cell rate and an average cell rate applied from the user of an ATM network at calling and reception acceptance of a call on the virtual path is discriminated based on the cell loss rate in the ATM call reception control method, the cell arrival distribution after the multiplexing on the virtual path is approximated by the poisson distribution having the same variance with that of the cell arrival distribution, the mean value of the poisson distribution and the mean value of the cell arrival number distribution are matched by virtually increasing/ decreasing the capacity of the virtual path (step 102) and the poisson distribution is used to estimate a cell loss rate after multiplexing on the virtual path (step 103).
