PURPOSE:To rapidly and accurately obtain distance information. CONSTITUTION:The left and right images of a target object are obtained by cameras 10L and 10R. With the left image data, the signal component at the frequency band is separated by space filters 12L and 13L where phase characteristics differ from each other by pi2 and are outputted to an outer product calculator 14 and an inner product calculator 15. Similarly, the right image data are processed by space filters 12R and 13R and the output is outputted to the outer product calculator 14 and the inner product calculator 15. The outer product calculator 14 and the inner product calculator 15 calculate the output product and inner product and then output the operation result to a phase difference sign judging equipment 16. The phase difference sign judging equipment 16 judges the sign of the phase difference of both input signals. By judging whether the sign is positive, negative, or zero, distance information indicating whether a target object is located at a further position, near position, or at a reference position can be obtained. |
