PURPOSE:To obtain a vibrating gyro being small in size and having a characteristic of excellent sensitivity by making the resonance frequency of a pillar-shaped vibrator and that of support members fitted to the opposite ends of the vibrator coincide with each other. CONSTITUTION:In a vibrator 2, an oscillating circuit is connected between piezoelectric elements 3a and 3b and a piezoelectric element 3c. By this circuit, the vibrator 2 is made to vibrate in a flectional manner in a direction intersecting perpendicularly a surface whereon the element 3c is formed. When the vibrator 2 is rotated around the central axis thereof in this state, the direction of the flectional vibration is varied by a Coriolis force. Thereby, a difference is brought about between output signals of the elements 3a and 3b. By measuring difference in an output voltage between the elements 3a and 3b, accordingly, a rotational angular velocity given to the vibrator 2 can be detected. By adopting an opposite-end support structure wherein support members 9a and 9b are fitted to the opposite ends of the vibrator 2, the length of the vibrator 2 can be reduced to about a half. By making the resonance frequencies of the members 9a and 9b and the vibrator 2 coincide with each other, besides, the vibration leaking outside the members 9a and 9b is reduced and a characteristic of excellent sensitivity can be obtained. |
