PURPOSE:To make the surplus length of an optical fiber on a main cable side sufficiently long for a fusion-splicing operation by dividing optical fibers to the optical fiber to be branched and the optical fiber not to be branched and connecting the optical fiber to be branched to the optical fiber of a branch cable. CONSTITUTION:A cable sheath 14 of the main cable is stripped away to expose a spacer 21 and the optical fiber 10. Next, a tensile body 17 exclusive of the spacer 21 is exposed and further, the tensile body 17 is curved. The tensile body 17 is then cut exclusive of a prescribed size in the state of parting the optical fiber 10 and the tensile body 17. The optical fiber 10 is rounded and housed into a housing tray if this fiber is an optical fiber which is not branched. The optical fiber is cut, an connected to the optical fiber of the branch cable, and then rounded and housed in the housing tray if the optical fiber is an optical fiber to be branched. The length to strip off the cable sheath 14 of the main cable is not limited by the length of a closure in such a manner and, therefore, the surplus length of the optical fiber 10 on the main cable side is settable at an arbitrary length. |
