PURPOSE:To shorten a processing time for file transfer by enabling high-speed file transfer from a magnetic disk, etc., to a network. CONSTITUTION:An input/output processor 8 is provided with a channel 13 for connecting a magnetic disk 4, a LAN adapter (adapter) 18 for connecting a network 6, a switch 17 for switching and connecting the channel 13 and the adapter 18, and a channel controller 12 equipped with a control part 25 for controlling the channel 13 and the adapter 18 and a switch control circuit 26 for controlling the switch 17, and the channel controller 12 controls the channel 13, adapter 18 and switch 17 based on the data transfer starting instruction of an instruction processor 1. The channel 13 reads data from the magnetic disk 4 and transfers them through the switch 17 to the adapter 18, the adapter 18 transmits the data to the network 6 or reads the data from the network 6 and transfers them through the switch 17 to the channel 13, and the channel 13 transmits the data to the magnetic disk 4.
