PURPOSE:To prevent the reduction of a high discharge efficiency as well as to reduce a trickle charge current so as to suppress the generation of a heat running away phenomenon, in a sealed lead-acid battery. CONSTITUTION:In a lead-acid battery furnishing an electrode plate group which in assembled by placing retainers between positive electrode plates and negative electrode plates, the following formula is accomplished. 0.04 <= (the specific surface area of the negative electrode active material X the weight of the negative electrode active material)/(the specific surface area of the positive electrode active material X the weight of the positive electrode active material) <= 0.12. And it is more favorable to be as 0.1 <= (the specific surface area of the negative electrode active material Xthe weight of the negative electrode)/(the specific surface area of the positive electrode active material X the weight of the positive electrode active material) <=0.12. And when the formula 0.04 <= (the specific surface area of the negative electrode active material X the weight of the negative electrode active material)/(the specific surface area of the positive electrode active material X the weight of the positive electrode active material) <=0.08 is accomplished, retainers are abutted also to the outer surfaces of the negative electrode plates positioning at the end faces of the electrode plate group favorably. |
