Bath for electrodeposition of zinc onto steel strip

Bath for electrodeposition of Zn is based on Zn and an associated electrolyte and contains greater than 0.001 mole/l of a complexing agent for Ni. The complexing agent for Ni is chosen from the gp; an acetate, an ethylenediaminetetraacetate, a salicylate and/or a citrate. The complexing agent is incorporated in a molar concn. at least equal to the measured concn. of soluble Ni present in the bath. The bath pref. contains 80-140 g/l Zn ions. The associated electrolyte is pref. chloride. The bath pref. has a pH of 4.5-5.7.
