PURPOSE:To provide a method for coupling an optical fiber and optical waveguide module capable of improving the yield and shortening the working time. CONSTITUTION:This method has a stage for forming aligned optical fibers 61, 62 by aligning optical fibers 1 in conformity with arrangement of the optical waveguides 19 of the optical waveguide module 12, a stage for roughly positioning the aligned optical fiber 61 and the optical waveguide module 12 while monitoring the images including the light passed the aligned optical fiber 61 and the optical waveguide module 12 by a television camera 13, a stage for connecting the aligned optical fiber 62 to a light quantity measuring instrument 17, then precisely aligning the optical axes of the aligned optical fibers 61, 62 and the optical waveguide module 12 while measuring the light passed the aligned optical fiber 61 and the optical waveguide module 12 by such connection and a stage for adhering and fixing the aligned optical fibers 61, 62 to the respective end faces of the optical waveguide module 12. |
