PURPOSE: To provide an integrated telephone/cable network system which integrates a telephone network and a cable network. CONSTITUTION: A signal on the telephone network is supplied to a telephone switching center 14, supplied through a cable network 16 to a subscriber switching unit 70 of designated subscriber and supplied to a telephone set 80 or FAX equipment 82. Besides, video and acoustic signals on the cable network are supplied to a cable switching center 18, supplied through a cable network 20 to a switching unit 70 of permitted subscriber and received at a TV receiver 86. The switching unit 70 is constituted as a subscriber interface unit, interfaces between a cable facility inside a subscriber houses and the cable networks 16 and 20 from the outside and enables bidirectional communication between the respective cables inside the subscriber house and the cable networks 16 and 20. Thus, the bidirectional communication of telephone network and cable network is enabled. |
