The cabling system has a principal cable guide extending along the length of one of the walls of a room, and carrying the principal cable. The cable trays carry electrical power sockets (22) at regular intervals along their length. Smaller cable guides (3) are set in the floor at regular intervals, extending in a direction perpendicular to the wall. The guides are set in the concrete floor, but are open at the top to allow access to the cable. The cables in these guides plug into the sockets attached to the side of the cable tray. The guides set in the floor have a profile that allows them to support a short pillar (5) at any point along their length. The pillar has connection sockets along its face.
