PURPOSE:To reduce the number of part items of a rotary electronic component. CONSTITUTION:This rotary electronic component comprises an insulating substrate 1 having a fixed contact portion 1a on its surface and a through hole 1d with a plated wall; and a moving-contact holding plate 3b having a shaft portion that fits into the through hole 1d. The plating prevents shavings of the insulating substrate 1 from being generated by the rotation of the moving- contact holding plate 3b, and enables the shaft to be integrated with the moving- contact holding plate.
